As part of the Floraliën, the Ghent University Choir will present a series of performances in Ghent. On 6 and 7 May, you can see the choir perform at the Christus Koningkerk, located on Rerum-Novarumplein. In addition, the GUK will also be heard during the Floraliën nocturne on 8 May, where they will enchant the audience with an atmospheric evening concert.

With these performances, the GUK aims not only to showcase its musical versatility, but also to introduce a wide audience to the power and beauty of choral music. Everyone is warmly invited to come and listen and be carried away by the harmonious sounds of this Ghent-based choir.

Inspiration

This spring, the Ghent University Choir is In Full Bloom. In a programme centred around growth, colour and transformation, we present music that unfolds from intimate and fragile to powerful and exuberant. Just as flowers open towards the light, our music also develops from fine, transparent lines into rich, full textures. Featuring, among others, the Flower Songs by Benjamin Britten and Three Flower Songs by Eric Whitacre, the theme of flowers and blossoming runs as a subtle thread throughout the concert. At the same time, we take you through a variety of atmospheres and styles, where stillness and energy alternate, and each composition adds its own colour to the whole.
